Engineering Guide to Cylindrical Roller Bearings: Analysis of Radial Capacity

Cylindrical Roller Bearings feature a linear contact surface between rollers and raceways, providing superior radial load-carrying capacity compared to ball bearings. These bearings are optimized for high-speed operation and heavy-duty radial load conditions. Their "separable design" facilitates easy mounting and dismounting of inner and outer rings independently.

In this engineering guide from Kamyar Gostar Iranian Industrial Group (DKFL), we explore configuration types, metallurgical standards, and industrial applications of these high-performance bearings.

1. Configuration Classification

  • NU Series: Outer ring with two flanges, inner ring without flanges; allows for axial displacement due to thermal expansion.
  • NJ Series: Outer ring with two flanges, inner ring with one flange; capable of guiding the shaft axially in one direction.
  • N Series: Inner ring with two flanges, outer ring without flanges.
  • NUP Series: Outer ring with two flanges, inner ring with one flange and a detachable loose rib; used for fixed shaft positioning (Locating Bearing).

2. DKFL Structural Quality

DKFL cylindrical roller bearings are manufactured from high-quality GCr15 (100Cr6) alloy steel, ensuring uniform hardness and exceptional wear resistance for extended service life. Cages are available in pressed steel (for moderate speeds) and machined brass (for high-load and high-speed applications) variants.

3. Selection Matrix

Series Key Characteristic Axial Fixation Primary Application
NU Floating Side No Industrial Gearboxes
NJ One-Way Single Direction Drive Shafts
NUP Locating Double Direction Central Shaft Fixing
