Product Detail
DKFL UCP 206 Pillow Block Unit Heavy-Duty 30mm Bore | Solid Base Housing (P206) | UC206 Insert Bearing
The DKFL UCP 206 pillow block unit is a pre-assembled mechanical bearing system consisting of a robust solid-base housing and a high-precision self-aligning insert bearing. Engineered for heavy radial loads, impact vibration, and continuous operation in power transmission lines and industrial conveyors.
Anatomy and Technical Components of DKFL UCP 206
The DKFL UCP 206 is a fully assembled mechanical unit designed for immediate installation. It consists of two precisely matched engineering components:
- Cast Iron Housing (P206): A one-piece cast iron housing featuring a spherical concave seat. It includes mounting slots for secure attachment to the frame, a standard brass grease nipple, and lubrication channels for optimal maintenance.
- Self-Aligning Insert Bearing (UC206): A deep-groove ball bearing with a convex spherical outer ring and an extended inner ring. It is secured to the 30mm shaft using two hardened set screws positioned at 120-degree intervals.
Self-Alignment Capability: The spherical interface between the P206 housing and the UC206 insert allows for angular misalignment correction of ±2° to ±3°. This technical advantage neutralizes stresses caused by structural inaccuracies or shaft deflection, preventing damaging stress concentration on the balls and raceways.
The Solid Base Advantage vs. Hollow Base Housings
Unlike generic, low-cost market alternatives that are manufactured with hollow, thin-walled bases (Hollow Base), the DKFL P206 housing is engineered using solid-base casting technology:
Drawbacks of Hollow Base Housings:
Susceptibility to foot breakage during tightening due to lack of central support, deformation of the spherical seat under load, accumulation of moisture/sludge under the base, and increased resonance at high speeds.
Benefits of DKFL Solid Base:
Superior resistance to shock and shear loads, prevention of foot fatigue/failure, vibration dampening, and retention of geometric seat tolerances throughout the bearing's entire service life.
Metallurgy, Sealing, and Lubrication
- 100Cr6 Alloy Steel (AISI 52100): All internal components (rings and balls) of the UC206 insert are manufactured from high-carbon chromium alloy steel, heat-treated to 60-62 HRC. This provides maximum resistance to wear, fatigue, and spalling.
- Dual Sealing System (Flinger Seal + Contact Rubber): Equipped with a nitrile rubber contact seal paired with a rotating metal flinger shield. As the shaft rotates, centrifugal force ensures that abrasive dust, debris, and moisture are repelled from entering the bearing raceways.
- HT200 Dense Cast Iron: The housing is cast with a high-density, fine-grain structure, ensuring excellent thermal resistance and effective vibration absorption under heavy mechanical stress.
Core Industrial Applications
Due to its versatile 30mm shaft size and ideal load capacity, DKFL UCP 206 is a critical component across various industrial sectors:
- Conveyor Systems: Drive and idler drums in packaging, food processing, and assembly lines.
- Agricultural Machinery: Power transmission shafts in harvesters, balers, and agricultural tillage equipment.
- Industrial Fans & Blowers: Shaft support for blowers and ventilation fans operating at moderate speeds.
- Ceramics & Stone Processing: Roller shafts operating in dusty, abrasive environments.
Critical Installation Protocols & Warnings
Step 1: Slide the bearing onto the clean, burr-free shaft. Fasten housing base bolts loosely to the frame, allowing the bearing to self-align.
Step 2: Tighten housing base bolts to the specified torque rating.
Step 3 (Final): Tighten the two set screws on the inner ring alternately and evenly.
Critical Warning: Tightening the set screws before securing the housing base will induce axial pre-load, causing the bearing to overheat and seize prematurely.
Never use a steel hammer directly on the inner ring, outer ring, or seal shield. Direct impact creates micro-cracks in the hardened 100Cr6 steel, deforms the flinger shield, and can fracture the cast iron housing. Always use a soft-face mallet or a sleeve tool matching the inner ring's diameter.
- Shaft Tolerance & Alignment: The recommended shaft tolerance for a 30mm bore is h7 or js7. Foundation surface unevenness should not exceed 0.1mm to avoid stressing the housing feet.
- Lubrication Management: The bearing is factory-lubricated with high-quality lithium grease. During periodic maintenance, inject only a small amount (1-2 pumps) of fresh grease. Over-greasing can push out the seal and cause temperature spikes.
